MZ TS125 Rear Shock Rebuild

The rear shock absorber springs were badly corroded and one had the adjuster lever snapped off.
The old Honda S90 compressor tool was used to dismantle them for servicing.

To get the shock apart a spring compressor tool made from two plates and two pieces of M12 threaded rod, was used to compress the spring to allow the mounting eye to be unscrewed.

An old socket was turned and notched to make a castellated tool to remove the top bush.

The top cap of the piston chamber was stuck, and so the top eye was replaced and the jig repurposed to pull it out.

70ml of new 5w oil was put in each shock.

The piston assembly was cleaned and re-used.

The top cap was fitted with a new seal and O-ring.

To finish, some new springs were purchased and the broken lever replaced on one of the units. The spring compressor was used to re-assemble the top eye.
